PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording apparatus using an optical waveguide array having a function to reduce the influence of the attachment of contaminants generated when violet laser light is used. SOLUTION: The optical recording apparatus is characterized in that a plurality of laser beams emitted from an optical waveguide array are modulated and scanned on a photoreceptor, the emitting end of the waveguide of the optical waveguide array is positioned at a point separated from the end faces of an underclad layer and an overclad layer by the amount g>π×d<SB>0</SB><SP>2</SP>×n/4λ, and the thickness T of the overclad layer and the thickness TT of the underclad layer satisfy the relations T>T<SB>0</SB>=(d<SB>0</SB><SP>2</SP>×(1+g<SP>2</SP>/X<SB>0</SB><SP>2</SP>))<SP>0.5</SP>/2+k/2 and TT>TT<SB>0</SB>=(d<SB>0</SB><SP>2</SP>×(1+g<SP>2</SP>/X<SB>0</SB><SP>2</SP>))<SP>0.5</SP>/2-k/2, where d<SB>0</SB>stands for the beam diameter emitted from the waveguide, n stands for the refractive index of the underclad layer and the oveclad layer,λstands for the wavelength of light and k stands for the thickness of the waveguide.
