PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which can attain improvement of the printing quality in a sublimation type printer, can reduce a power necessary for printing, and furthermore can increase the number of tones expressible by printing. SOLUTION: In the sublimation type printer, a heating resistor set corresponding to each dot in a thermal head is made a heating resistor which has its length of a printing paper movement direction nearly equal to a resolution or shorter than the resolution. When conveyance by one line of a printing paper is carried out by two-step driving of a pulse motor, excitation by an excitation pulse pattern to the heating resistor is repeated two times synchronously with each driving pulse of the pulse motor. Also, degradation of the printing quality at a printing paper rear end is suppressed by devising the shape of an IC cover. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
