THERMAL TRANSFER TYPE PRINTER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To avoid defective printing due to color misregistration in a thermal transfer type printer having a thermal head holding mechanism permitting a thermal head to uniformly contact along a printing surface during thermal transfer. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer type printer performs printing to an IC card by transferring an ink by using a thermal head 205 to the IC card transferred and comprises a support member 412 rotatably supporting the thermal head 205, and a pressing member 407 pressing the support member 412 so that the thermal head 205 presses the IC card. A posture correction member (415) regulates the thermal head 205 so that the thermal head 205 is diagonal to the IC card at the time when the pressing of the support member 412 by the pressing member 407 is released and the thermal head 205 separates from the IC card (Fig. 4(A)).
