The invention relates to a container (1) for transporting food, comprising a n upper and a lower container half (2, 3), which are connected together in a pivotable manner in order to pivot between an open position and a closed position (4). Each container half comprises a flat base and/or cover wall (5 , 6) and lateral walls (7, 8, 9, 10) which extend therefrom essentially perpendicular in an upward manner and/or downward manner and to the outside in relation to the other container halves (2, 3). In order to improve heat insulation in said type of container and to also increase stability, in particular, in containers made of paper, cardboard and similar, the base and/or cover wall (5, 6) is double walled at least in places. The invention also relates to a single-pieced blank (40) for producing said type of container.
