PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To check presence of a short circuit by sequentially comparing output of adjacent buses instead of the checking by comparing output with a pattern of input or the like. SOLUTION: As shown in Fig. 2, this electronic equipment having a plurality of signal lines used for serial communication has: a transmission means 110 continuously transmitting a signal of an arbitrary number of bits through the plurality of signal lines; a reception means 120 receiving the signal transmitted by the transmission means; a comparison means comparing a bit value of the signal received in the reception means between the adjacent signal lines; and a detection means detecting states of the plurality of signal lines on the basis of a result obtained by comparison by the comparison means.
