MARKER GENE FOR EXAMINING HYPERTENSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an HP (hypertension)-susceptible gene by a mapping method using a highly efficient and inexpensive MS (microsatellite).

SOLUTION: The new HP-susceptible gene containing specific SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) of a human genomic DNA sequence is identified as follows. A case control correlation analysis related to the hypertension is carried out by using an MS polymorphic marker set at an interval of about 100 kb. A candidate region is narrowed down and a correlation analysis and a linkage analysis using the SNP as a marker are then carried out.
