METHOD FOR PRODUCING EPOXY COMPOUND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing an epoxy compound using a ruthenium complex.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the epoxy compound comprises oxidizing a substance which is to be oxidized and has an olefin bond. The method includes preparing a complex composite material in which the ruthenium complex comprising a ligand having a pyridine skeleton (e.g. a planar quadridentate ligand having a bipyridylamide skeleton) is adsorbed on a meso-porous substance. Furthermore, the method includes making the complex composite material coexist with the substance to be oxidized in the presence of an alkyl hydroperoxide and/or an arylalkyl hydroperoxide (e.g. tert-butyl hydroperoxide) and producing an epoxy group from the olefin bond possessed by the substance to be oxidized.
