<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight device capable of making luminance constant regardless of locations, on the surface of a backlight, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using it. <P>SOLUTION: This backlight device has a plurality of lamps flatly disposed side by side, a first plane keeping a fist space from the plane on which the plurality of lamps are disposed side by side while being in parallel with it, and a second plane keeping a second space from the plane on which the plurality of lamps are disposed side by side on the opposite side to the first plane while being in parallel with it, and a reflector on which a Fresnel face is formed is disposed on the second plane. This backlight device has angles of reflection on the Fresnel face so that the sum of luminance of light directly reaching an optional position on the first plane from the plurality of lamps and light reaching the optional position by being reflected by the reflector becomes almost the same value at any position on the first plane. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
