<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character input device or the like suitable for allowing a learner of Japanese or Chinese to efficiently input a character. <P>SOLUTION: A storage part 202 in this character input device 201 stores characters and their stroke information in association with each other. A character stroke input receipt part 203 receives character stroke input designating information showing respective numbers of vertical lines, horizontal lines, diagonal lines, and other lines. A conversion part 204 converts the information designated by the character stroke input into character stroke information. A candidate presentation part 205 presents characters stored in association with the converted character stroke information in the storage part 202 as candidates. A selection input receipt part 206 receives selection input designating one character from the presented candidates.
