PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compatibly realize the advantage of a line screen dither matrix and the advantage of a dot screen dither. SOLUTION: For all pixels within a basic cell, the value of a function F(x, y) is calculated and a growth order is decided in the descending order of the value. The F(x, y) is expressed by the sum of a two-dimensional function having unidirectional directivity, and a two-dimensional function having bidirectional directivity.
