PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that has a charging-roller cleaning member capable of retaining satisfactory cleaning performance for a long period of time by decreasing contact probability between a charging roller and the charging-roller cleaning member. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a charging-roller cleaning member 3 formed from a metal core 4 and a melamine resin foam body 5 along the outer circumference of the metal core and rotated accompanying the charging roller 2. When rotated accompanying the charging roller 2, the charging-roller cleaning member 3 repeats its contact with and separation from the charging roller 2.
