PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasticizer for a cellulose acetate resin having good compatibility with the resin and excellent plasticizing efficiency. SOLUTION: The plasticizer for the cellulose acetate resin comprises a compound represented by formula (1) R<SP>1</SP>O(A<SP>1</SP>O)<SB>m1</SB>-COR<SP>3</SP>COO-(A<SP>2</SP>O)<SB>m2</SB>R<SP>2</SP>(1) [wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>represent each a 1-15C alkyl group or the like; R<SP>3</SP>represents a 1-8C alkylene group; A<SP>1</SP>O and A<SP>2</SP>O represent each a 2-4C oxyalkylene group; and m<SB>1</SB>and m<SB>2</SB>represent each a number of 1-20], formula (2) R<SP>4</SP>O(A<SP>3</SP>O)<SB>n1</SB>R<SP>5</SP>(2) [wherein, R<SP>4</SP>represents a 1-15C alkyl group or the like; R<SP>5</SP>represents a 2-15C acyl group or the like; the total carbon number of R<SP>4</SP>and R<SP>5</SP>is 4-18; A<SP>3</SP>O represents a 2-4C oxyalkylene group; and n<SB>1</SB>represents a number of 1-20] or formula (3) R<SP>6</SP>O(A<SP>4</SP>O)<SB>p1</SB>-R<SP>8</SP>O-(A<SP>5</SP>O)<SB>p2</SB>R<SP>7</SP>(3) [wherein, R<SP>6</SP>and R<SP>7</SP>represent each a 2-6C acyl group; R<SP>8</SP>represents a 1-8C dihydric alcohol residue; A<SP>4</SP>O and A<SP>5</SP>O represent each a 2-4C oxyalkylene group; and p<SB>1</SB>and p<SB>2</SB>represent each a number of 1-20] and an ester of an alkylene oxide adduct of a trivalent or higher polyhydric alcohol with a 1-12C fatty acid or an ester of a trivalent or a higher polyvalent fatty acid with an alkylene oxide adduct of a 1-12C alcohol.
