PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sunscreen cosmetic that has excellent UVB and UVA-defensive property and gives good using sense, causes no deposition of crystals with the passage of time. SOLUTION: This sunscreen cosmetic preferably comprises modified titanium oxide prepared by hydrophobic surface-treating a substantially aluminum-free titanium oxide with silica and a dibenzoilmethane compound. In this modified titanium oxide, the total amount of the surface covering is preferably is 1 to 20 mass% based on the titanium. The titanium oxide is preferably the rutile type. The dibenzoilmethane compound is suitably 4-tert.-butyl-4'-methoxydibenzoilmethane. This cosmetic preferably contains a long-chain alkyl-including modified organopolysiloxane, in addition.
