PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for extremely easily attaching/detaching a gear to be machined by machining the gear without fixing it to a shaft at the time of lapping of a gear, and simultaneously right and left both tooth surfaces of the gear by using two lap gears. SOLUTION: Two rotating discs sandwich both end surfaces of the gear to suppress tilting in an axial direction. The gear is put between two lap gears composed of a driving lap gear and a brake lap gear and one guiding gear, thereby giving rotations to the gear by automatic alignment. The braking force of the brake lap gear is adjusted to give a required machining load. Because of being put between the driving lap gear and the brake lap gear, when the driving lap gear machines a right tooth surface of the gear, the brake lap gear machines a left tooth surface.
