PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a livestock barn capable of healthily rearing an animal in an environment close to natural environment not only in a rural area but also near a residential area. SOLUTION: The livestock barn 10 has a plurality of supporting posts 1, a rearing floor to rear an animal, and a floor-covering material for rearing to be spread on the floor. There is no wall between the supporting posts 1 and the space between the supporting posts is opened to enable free motion of air and form a two-storied structure. The floor-covering material is produced by mixing at least animal feces, soil, wood chips, straw and Bacillus natto, aging the mixture, adding and mixing a food production waste formed in the production of a food to the aged mixture, and subjecting the product to mixing heat-treatment to effect sufficient fermentation of the product. When the covering material is spread on the rearing site to rear an animal, the organic materials of excrement causing the pollution of environment is decomposed and the odor emitting from the excrement is eliminated to enable the rearing of livestock even near a residential area.
