The system (1) has a rail unit (2) arranged with clearance in an intermediate space of a rail retainer (3) and comprising a covering unit (4). The covering unit covers a gap caused by the clearance when the rail unit is arranged in the rail retainer, where the covering unit is arranged in a height adjustable manner. The retainer is made from ceramic and the rail unit is made from light metal e.g. aluminum. An expansion joint is arranged between a supporting frame and the rail unit. The covering unit has a plate-shaped part that is arranged parallel to a longitudinal axis of the rail unit. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a covering unit for a rail unit (2) a rail retainer of a rail system.
