The method involves manufacturing a number of individual scintillator units (14) from a scintillator material and sawing the units from a scintillator ceramic, where the units have the dimensions of a pixel and are cubic-shaped. The five side surfaces of the units are provided with an optically reflecting material, where the material is applied as a layer on the surfaces. Each unit is glued with a light detecting unit e.g. photodiode (11), in a loading process. An independent claim is also included for a detector comprising an array of scintillator units.
