The method involves determining a current location of a telecommunication transmission device (15), in which a mobile radio card (1) is inserted, in a mobile radio network. The current location is determined from location data. The current location of the device is compared with a stored unlocking location. The card is unlocked if the current location corresponds to the unlocking location. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a method of configuring an unlocking functionality of a mobile radio card (2) a mobile radio card with a control device and a memory.
