[Class 75 (ii).] A vehicle or like lamp is fitted with an optical system consisting of a series of cylindrical lenses or prisms which is substantially straight in the axial direction of the prisms but is curved as a whole in a transverse direction whereby the beam is only slightly dispersed in one direction but is dispersed in a direction at right angles thereto over an angle of more than 180‹ in such a manner that the luminous intensity decreases gradually from the optical axis. In the form shown the optical system comprises a curved row of substantially straight glass tubes 3 arranged parallel to one another, and the parabolic or like reflector 2 is cut away at the sides 4.</p> |
