A reciprocating compressor and a shield device for a compression unit thereof are provided to reduce the number of stoppers and restrain excessive movement of a compression unit for preventing deviation of the compression unit from a supporting spring or damage thereof from collision with an inner wall of a casing. A reciprocating compressor includes a casing(110) and a compression unit(120) mounted in the casing for inhaling and compressing refrigerant gas in the casing and discharging the compressed refrigerant gas to the outside of the casing. A first stopper(131) is mounted in the casing for restraining movement of the compression unit in every direction(F,R,U,S). A second stopper(132) is mounted in the casing for restraining movement of the compression unit in the upward direction(U).
