Protection of program execution performed by an integrated circuit or the data stored in this circuit

The method involves detecting a disturbance in an operating sequence of a program executed by an integrated circuit. The value of a numeric variable in a volatile storage component of the integrated circuit is modified in case of a detection of the disturbance. Information representative of the value of the numeric variable is recopied in an area of a non volatile memory. The information content in the memory is tested to decide the erasing of a personal identification number in the memory.
