IDENTIFICATION INFORMATION RECOGNITION SYSTEM FOR A MEDICAL DEVICE

A medication delivery system (10, 30) for delivering a medicament to a patient is described. The system comprises: a line set (14, 34) comprising a tube (38) that is adapted to be connected to a container (16, 35) containing the medicament; a slide clamp (42) that is configured to engage the tube (38) of the line set (14, 34) to prevent unwanted flow through the tube; an identifier (18, 50) which is integrated with and disposed on a side of the slide clamp, the identifier having identification information associated therewith; and a delivery device (12, 32) configured to deliver the medicament to the patient and having a slide clamp receptacle (44) configured to engage the slide clamp, the delivery device including a recognition system (20) that is capable of obtaining the identification information associated with the identifier when the slide clamp receptacle engages the slide clamp. Also provided is a method of identifying information associated with an identifier of a medication delivery system.
