摘要 A catalyst having chromium content of 0.01-5 wt.% (based on the element in the finished catalyst), is supported on a finely divided inorganic support and obtainable by concluding calcination at 350-1050[deg]C. It has zinc content of 0.01-10 wt.%, based on the element in the finished catalyst. Independent claims are also included for: (A) a process for preparing the inventive catalyst comprising preparing an inorganic, finely divided support; applying a solution or suspension of a zinc compound to the support; applying a solution or suspension of a chromium compound to the support, with the above steps to be carried out together or separately in any order, if appropriate, drying the support; and calcining the support at 350-1050[deg]C, preferably 400-900[deg]C; (B) a process for the polymerization of ethylene or of ethylene and up to 10 wt.% 3-20C olefins as comonomers by carrying out the polymerization in the presence of the inventive catalyst at 30-150[deg]C and 0.2-15 Mpa; (C) an ethylene homopolymer or copolymer obtainable by the process; and (D) the use of the polymers as films, pipes, and hollow bodies.
