An upper boom (11) is constituted by a box member (12) having a shape like a box that includes an upper flange (13), a lower flange (14), a left web (15) and a right web (16), and bosses (18, 19) that are welded to both ends of the box member (12). Bent plate portions (15B, 15C) which are bent inward are provided at both ends of the left web (15), and bent plate portions (16B, 16C) are also provided at both ends of the right web (16). Reinforcement plates (20) are positioned at an outside of the bent plate portions (15B, 15C) and welded between the left web (15) and the boss (18), and reinforcement plates (21) are also welded between the right web (16) and the boss (19) at an outside of the bent plate portions (16B, 16C). With these bent plate portions (15B, 15C, 16B, 16C) and the reinforcement plates (20, 21), a double structure can be provided in the vicinities of the bosses (18, 19), and these portions can be reinforced.
