A floor standing air conditioner in which the number of parts can be reduced while safety in maintenance of a filter is being secured. A floor standing air conditioner (1) sucks air before conditioning through an air filter (11) and discharges conditioned air, and the air conditioner (1) has a fan (3), a casing (4), and a front lower panel (9). The casing (4) receives the fan (3) in it. The front lower panel (9) is installed so that it can open and close the casing (4) and is opened outward relative to the casing (4). Further, the front lower panel (9) has a filter reception section (91) for receiving the air filter (11) and has a safety rib section (97). The filter reception section (91) is constructed such that the air filter (11) is installable and removable by opening the front lower panel (9). The safety rib section (97) is formed integrally with the filter reception section (91) and prevents, when the front lower panel (9) is opened to produce a space (S) between the casing (4) and the filter reception section (91), access from the outside of the casing (4) to the fan (3) through the space (S).
