A method for recovering valuable metals from waste catalysts is provided to seek the simplification of process and the stability of operation and improve the recovery ratio of the valuable metals. A method for recovering valuable metals from waste catalysts comprises: finely milling petroleum desulfurized waste catalysts which are generated during petroleum refining and contain valuable metals such as a vanadium(V), a molybdenum(Mo), etc. and flammable materials such as petroleum and petroleum residues contained in the waste catalysts into powder; sieving the milled powder by a sieve of 200 mesh; mixing the milled powder passing through the sieve with a predetermined quantity of sodium carbonate(Na2CO3); and roasting the mixture in a rotary furnace or an electric furnace, wherein the waste catalysts are pre-treated with incombustible solvents, particularly an incombustible cleaning agent such as 1,1,1-trichloroethane or carbon tetrachloride(CCl4), and an ester-based emulsifier to remove the flammable materials such as petroleum and petroleum residues contained in the waste catalysts.
|
