An LCD and a method of manufacturing the same are provided to increase an opening region by a bonding margin by forming a light blocking member, which has been included in a color filter substrate, in an array substrate. A display region and a non display region are defined in a substrate(100). The display region includes a switching region and a pixel region(P) and the non display region includes a driver circuit unit. First and second semiconductor layers formed of a poly silicon are formed in the driver circuit unit, and a third semiconductor layer is formed in the switching region. A gate electrode is formed to interpose a gate insulating layer(116) on the first to third semiconductor layers. Surfaces of the second semiconductor layer of the driver circuit unit that dose not correspond to the gate electrode and the third semiconductor layer of the switching region are doped with n+ ions to form an ohmic region. A surface of the first semiconductor layer of the drive circuit unit that dose not correspond to the gate electrode is doped with p+ ions. An interlayer insulating layer(130) is formed on an entire surface of the substrate and patterned to expose the ohmic regions at both sides of the first to third semiconductor layers. A source electrode(142) and a drain electrode(142b) are formed to contact the exposed ohmic regions at both sides of the first to third semiconductor layers. A passivation layer(146) is formed on an entire surface of the substrate where the source and drain electrodes are formed. A pixel electrode(150) is formed to contact the drain electrode. A light blocking member is formed above the driver circuit unit and an interface between the switching region and the pixel region. |
