A file reproducing device and an error file processing method are provided to display an error message if reproduction is unavailable owing to generation of a file error in case of audio and video files being searched, and to delete an error file, thereby reducing a waste of a memory. A file reproducing device reproduces and searches prestored files according to a reproduction mode(S310,S320). The device detects whether an error file exists while the prestored files are searched(S330). If so, the device displays an error message on the detected error file(S340). The device deletes the detected error file(S350,S360). The device sequentially searches the files next to the error file according to the reproduction mode, and reproduces a selected specific file(S370).
