An expansion and contraction type umbrella is provided to be folded in a minimum size and volume, to be carried easily in women's bag or packet and to prevent loss of umbrellas. The expansion and contraction type umbrella includes an expansion and contraction pillar pipe(121), a support(111), a case(101), a support member(125), plural expansion and contraction umbrella ribs(141), a holding member(147), an ascending/descending body(131), and a fixing cap(126). Plural pipes having smaller diameters are coupled in multi-stages to the expansion and contraction pillar pipe(121) and when these pipes are pulled out, the length of the expansion and contraction pillar pipe is increased, and when these pipes are put in, the length of the expansion and contraction pillar pipe(121) is reduced. |
