A method and an apparatus of controlling a start speed of an electric motor are provided to prevent an RPM(Revolutions Per Minute) of the electric motor from abnormally increasing by previously setting predetermined start power in driving the electric motor. An apparatus for controlling a start speed of an electric motor includes a speed increase ratio adjuster(20), a start power adjusting unit(22), a current detector(24), a triac driver(26), and a controller(30). The speed increase ratio adjuster adjusts an increase ratio of a rotation number per minute. The start power adjusting unit adjusts start power supplied to the electric motor. The current detector detects a current. The triac driver drives a triac. The controller controls the triac controller according to the output values from the speed increase ratio adjuster, the start power adjusting unit, and the current detector. |
