The support consists of a metal, e.g. aluminium, extrusion (1) fixed to an adjacent vertical wall (20) by sliding it into the rail (12) of a sealing strip (10). The extrusion has a horizontal flange (2) to support the edge of a slab (40) and a T-shaped stop (4) to retain the edge of a damp-proof sealing layer (30) laid under the slabs. The upper edge of the sealing strip is fitted with a weather strip (11).
