<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system enhancing starting characteristics and stopping characteristics in a cold area. <P>SOLUTION: The fuel cell system includes a water supply device 20 for supplying water to an air supply line 70 of a fuel cell, and an antifreeze solution supply device 200 for supplying hydrophobic antifreeze solution to an air supply line 70. The antifreeze solution is selectively supplied to the air supply line 70 while operation stops, a large amount of water is quickly surely replaced with antifreeze solution to prevent freezing in the cold area.
