PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the setting of the amount of compression for the connecting section when fusion bonding optical fibers together or fusion bonding an optical fiber to an optical waveguide, and miniaturize the fusion bonding device and simplify the fusion bonding work. SOLUTION: Butting an optical fiber to another one or to an optical waveguide, and buckling the optical fiber outside the centering position, the optical fiber is fused at the butting section in this state. The fiber butting pressure can be adjusted by deciding its flexure length and also can be made optimum for the fusion bonding method (discharging, laser welding, etc.).
