PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a perfume composition to suppress the base smell derived from ubiquinones and the degradation smell caused by storage and provide a ubiquinone-containing external preparation having suppressed generation of these smells. SOLUTION: The perfume composition to be compounded to an external preparation containing ubiquinones contains perfume materials (a) and (b). (a) A perfume material having a retention time of≥5 min and <40 min determined by the following GC measurement conditions and (b) a perfume material having a retention time of≥40 min and <70 min determined by the following GC measurement conditions. GC measurement conditions: heating condition, heating from the initial temperature 60°C to 300°C at a heating rate of 2°C/min; capillary column, wide pore capillary column DB-1, having a dimension of 60 m×0.25 mm (inner diameter); liquid phase, dimethylpolysiloxane; membrane thickness, 0.25μm; carrier gas flow rate, helium, 1.5 mL/min; injection port temperature, 300°C; temperature of hydrogen flame ion detector, 300°C.
