PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine capable of improving the safety when the water feeding in the cooling motion after termination of a high-temperature washing process is abnormal. SOLUTION: The washing machine has the cooling motion to repeat water feeding and draining by controlling a water supply valve 37 and a drain valve 36 till the temperature of the heated washing water is lowered to a second prescribed temperature T2 in a draining process after the high-temperature washing process in which washing water is heated at least at a first prescribed temperature T1 or higher by controlling a heater 41. If water is not fed for a prescribed period of time in the cooling motion, water is drained without displaying the message, "Water feeding is abnormal". As a result, high-temperature water is not left stored inside a rotary drum, and therefore, the temperature inside the rotary drum is easy to decline. Accordingly, risks of a user's touching high-temperature washing water, laundry and rotary drum can be reduced and the user's safety and convenience can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
