PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To process the image of a sheet metal, etc., having a large outside dimension with fine resolution. SOLUTION: An illuminating light L transmitted through the image of holes 5 and 7, etc., formed through a sheet meal W is taken in by feeding the sheet metal W in the Y-direction and, at the same time, making a camera 9 to scan in the X-direction. When the light L is taken in, an X-direction processing means 25 compresses and stores the image data taken-in by means of the camera 9 in real time. A Y-direction processing means 35 extracts the pattern line in the Y-direction which is perpendicular to the scanning direction of the camera 9 from the above-mentioned stored image data and the next taken-in image data. The outline of the pattern in the Y-direction is extracted by not using the image data of all scan lines, but those of scan lines thinned at appropriate intervals. |
