<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method which combines information of measured density with information of the contour base of a blood vessel to produce the more accurate boundaries of the blood vessel. <P>SOLUTION: The method applies a contour-finding algorithm on a shadow image and segments the image on the base of luminance to find out the boundaries of a blood vessel, thereby to derive data of the contour on the X-ray differential absorption image of the blood vessel, wherein the method comprises a step for finding an area to measure the density in the blood vessel and a step for shifting one or both of the boundaries toward the inside until the measured density between the boundaries before and after the shift starts to change significantly. A specific procedure decides automatically a conversion factor and introduces to discriminate a branched or paralleling blood vessel, wherein the conversion factor equalizes the density measurement-base diameter to the contour base diameter of the blood vessel. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
