<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery capable of carrying out reversible charge and discharge, and capable of a long time use by using a stable nonaqueous electrolyte. <P>SOLUTION: A positive electrode active material contains sodium (Na), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), and a transition metal capable of having a hexavalent state. As the transition metal capable of having the hexavalent state, tungsten (W) can be used.
