PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system in which a user having no dedicated knowledge can easily utilize data communication via the Internet by customizing an initial communication environment of a communication apparatus within a mediation apparatus and automatically setting the customized initial communication environment into a computer. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for customizing an initial communication environment in a communication system comprising a communication apparatus, a mediation apparatus and another provider. The mediation apparatus carries out a customize step of generating data relating to the initial communication environment for connecting to the other provider, and the communication apparatus carries out the steps of connecting to the mediation apparatus to download the generated data relating to the initial communication environment, and automatically setting the downloaded data relating to the initial communication environment into the communication apparatus.
