PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive capable of suppressing putrefaction and occurrence of fungus over a long period even when the additive is dissolved in an object containing water and then allowed to stand at room temperature and using a harmless material which is a food material. SOLUTION: The present invention provides the antiseptic and antifungal additive using a mixture obtained by mixing carboxymethylcellulose sodium (CMC-Na) powder with calcium chloride (CaCl2) powder and/or magnesium chloride (MgCl2) powder in a weight ratio of (1:15) to (1:4) as a paste and a method for producing the additive.
