PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to replace air in the head space fully by gas for replacement even if it is a can of which the head space is large. SOLUTION: An inert gas replacing apparatus 1 is equipped with an inert gas supplying section 6 for supplying inert gas GN2 continuously from an upper part in the can 2, a liquefied inert gas supplying section 7 for supplying liquefied inert gas LN2 and a seamer gas supplying section 9 for supplying the inert gas GN2 to the can 2 just before seaming a can lid by turning, and these are maintained at a half-sealed space state by an outer cover 4. The can 2 is that gas replacement is carried out to some extent by being conveyed to a conveyor 3, and also, furthermore, since the inert gas GN2 is supplied in the seamer gas supplying section 9, the gas replacement in the head space 11 is fully carried out.
