PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mobile communication terminal unit, equipped with an operation mode switching device and its mode switching method for switching to a desired operation mode, preventing generating overloading of a controller, and preventing the occurrence of misoperations, and making the unit conveniently usable. SOLUTION: A mobile communication terminal unit includes a first case body and a second case body, coupled rotatably with a hinge assembly and an operation mode switching device for switching to the operation mode of the mobile communication terminal unit, corresponding to the angle of rotation of the first body and the second body. The operation mode switching device includes a mode selector, mounted on a hinge assembly for selecting an operation mode, a coupling member mounted on one of the first case body and the second case body and a needle mounted movably on the mode selector, and attached/detached to/from the coupling member for tuning on/off the output of the operation mode selected by the motor selector.
