PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric component which can be miniaturized, can realize low cost, and has less possibility of damage on a human body due to a shaft even when a knob is broken due to application of an excessive force. SOLUTION: The electronic component is provided with a fixed member 1 having a housing portion 1a; a rotary member 2 to be arranged on the housing portion 1a of the fixed member 1; an operating shaft having one end engaged with the rotary member 2 and performing rotary operation of the rotary member 2; a bearing member 4 integrally provided on the fixed member 1, having the other end of the operation shaft projecting outward, and rotatably holding the operation shaft; and a signal detecting means housed in the fixed member 1 and outputting an electric signal in response to the rotation of the rotary member 2. The operation shaft consists of a first shaft body 3 engaged with the rotary member 2 and pivotably supported by the bearing member 4; and second shaft bodies 5, 17 engaged with the first shaft body 3, projecting to the outside of the bearing member 4, and having the operation knob 14 attached thereon.
