PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antibacterial agent effective for gram-positive bacteria, especially, a natural product-originated antibacterial agent safely applicable to foods and the like, and to provide a method of antibacterial treatment. SOLUTION: The antibacterial agent comprises water-insoluble rosemary extracts as an active ingredient. The antibacterial agent has antibacterial activity to gram-positive bacteria belonging to Staphylococcus, Lactobacillus, Listeria, Alicyclobacillus or Bacillus. The method of antibacterial treatment comprises adding the water-insoluble rosemary extracts to be≥0.1 ppm content in the sample. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
