摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base material for supporting a precursor for manufacturing a bulk RE-Ba-Cu-O based superconductive material. SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing the RE-Ba-Cu-O based superconductive material, a mixture comprising an RE based compound (provided that RE is a rare-earth element including Y), a Ba based compound, a Cu based compound or a complex compound thereof is used as a starting material and molded to produce the precursor, and the obtained precursor is partially melted and subsequently cooled to grow a superconductive phase. In the base material for supporting the precursor, at least a part that directly contacts the precursor is composed of a mixture of a powder comprising an RE' based compound (wherein that RE' is a rare-earth element other than RE), a Ba based compound, a Cu based compound or a complex compound thereof and a granular particle of RE"<SB>2</SB>BaCuO<SB>5</SB>(wherein that RE" is a rare-earth element other than RE). A crystal growth temperature of an (RE', RE")-Ba-Cu-O based superconductive phase produced from at least the part of the base material that directly contacts the precursor is lower than that of the RE-Ba-Cu-O based superconductive phase produced from the precursor.
