PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a locking device, operated from the front of a tray without affecting the space between racks disposed in multistage vertically. SOLUTION: This locking device is provided in a stand of a shelf including several racks 3 having an inclined storing tray 4 expanded on a holder arm 5 to facilitate supplement or takeout of commodities stored in the tray. The locking device includes leaf-shaped locking hooks 9, 15 moving in passages 10, 16 disposed on the upper side part or the lower side part of the tray when the tray is extended. The locking hooks are connected to turning fulcrums 13, 13a in a holder 5 at the end facing on the rear side of the tray. The locking hooks are disposed so that when the tray 4 is drawn in to a working position; at the other end, the hooks are elongated from the passages 10, 16; and the hook-shaped parts 14, 19 of the locking hooks 9, 15 cooperate with locking plates 12, 18 at the front edge of the tray.
