<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the printing quality by preventing entry of dust and adhesion of dust to a printing medium to be taken into the periphery of a printing head to a printer which prints repeating reciprocative conveyance of the printing medium. <P>SOLUTION: The printer 1 is equipped with a first protecting cover 13 which is attached to be able to be accommodated inside of a case 7 that includes a printing means and a conveyance means for a paper 10 as the printing medium. The first protecting cover 13 is taken out from the inside of the case 7 when printing is carried out, thereby covering at least an upper face of the paper 10 which projects from the case 7 because of the forward conveyance of the conveyance means.
