PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for a pneumatic tire capable of improving wet performance and snow performance without impairing workability of rubber processing. SOLUTION: A rubber component comprises 20-60 wt.% of a styrene-butadiene rubber (A) having a glass transition temperature of -35 to -25°C, a styrene content of 20-40 wt.% and a vinyl content of 20-60 wt.% in the butadiene segment and 80-40 wt.% of another diene rubber (B), the rubber component having a glass transition temperature of -70 to -55°C as the whole rubber component. The rubber composition comprises 100 pts.wt. of the rubber component, >100 pts.wt. and≤200 pts.wt. of silica having a BET specific surface area of 210-300 m<SP>2</SP>/g and a silane coupling agent represented by the formula (2): (C<SB>n</SB>H<SB>2n+1</SB>O)<SB>3</SB>Si-C<SB>m</SB>H<SB>2m</SB>-S-CO-C<SB>k</SB>H<SB>2k+1</SB>(wherein n denotes an integer of 1-3; m denotes an integer of 1-5; and k denotes an integer of 5-9).
