<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus to which a paper option feeder is attachable, the image forming apparatus being designed to prevent nonconformities on an electric circuit by avoiding attaching the paper option feeder when the power is on. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes a detecting means that detects upward force applied to a handle mechanism used to carry the body of the image forming apparatus.
