PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical element which can be downsized as a whole. SOLUTION: A UV curing resin 3 is held between a substrate lens 1 (a planar or spherical lens) formed by injection molding or the like in advance and a metallic mold 2 having a non-spherical shape and is pressed by the substrate lens 1 and the metallic mold 2 to carry out molding (a). The substrate lens 1 is circular as shown in a plain view (A) but an overhanging section 1a is formed at a part thereof. The overhanging section 1a is provided at a position not affecting characteristics of the substrate lens 1 and of the optical element to be manufactured and has a size not affecting them. The UV curing resin 3 is hardened by irradiation with UV rays through the substrate lens 1 in such a state (b). Then the overhanging section 1a is pressed from a downside of the figure by using a lens peeling tool 4 to exfoliate the UV curing type resin 3 from the metallic mold 2.
